Dominant Great Britain win U24 Women’s European Championships

Great Britain’s U24 Women took home the 2018 European Championships title yesterday thanks to a 48-27 victory over Germany in the final.

Maddie Thompson and Lucy Robinson both poured in 16 points and Joy Haizelden dished out 15 assists as the team eased to a comfortable win in the tournament’s finale. 

The British team dominated the tournament in Villenave-d’Ornon, Bordeaux, France from start to finish – winning each of their five outings:

Great Britain 45-25 France (Group); Great Britain 57-17 Germany (Group); Great Britain 63-14 Germany (Group); Great Britain 53-18 France (Group); Great Britain 48-27 Germany (Final).

Maddie Thompson led the tournament in scoring with an average of 14 points per game, while Joy Haizelden topped the assists charts by handing out 10.6 assists per contest. 

Charlotte Moore, Maddie Thompson and Joy Haizelden were also named to the tournament’s All Star 5 team.
