Having previously led Team Northumbria to WBBL Play-Off
success at The 02 in 2016, the Bulgarian international is already making a
difference for her new side.
On Saturday, the Lions began their Championship campaign with an opening day win over Oaklands Wolves – Voynova netting a game-high 18 points, adding 12 rebounds and five assists.
“It is great to be back in the WBBL, although it is a bit strange not to be wearing the Team Northumbria/Newcastle Eagles colours,” began Voynova.
“The league is getting stronger every year which is exciting. It will be interesting to see how the season unfolds.
“I am very excited to be part of the BA London Lions and look forward to being able to play with some of my closest friends, but equally to help the younger players develop.
“It was great to start the season with a win, although there is still a lot of work to be done.
“One thing the game highlighted is that we have to improve defensively and be able to get stops when it matters.
“We are a work in progress with a lot of players still missing so it’s exciting to see what the future holds for us.”
