Having slipped to two defeats in their opening three contests, this weekend’s road double-header is an important one for Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks.
Losses to London Lions and Newcastle Eagles have pushed the side from Scotland into seventh position in the early season standings.
Already four points behind the league-leading London City Royals, the Rocks will be keen not to lose any more ground as the travel to face Bristol Flyers on Saturday and Plymouth Raiders on Sunday.
“We’ve given up a lot of points in every game so far this season and our defence has been pretty atrocious so far,” admitted Glasgow’s Jonny Bunyan.
“As a team we’ve been focused on changing our defensive approach, trying to get it up to a level that we’re happy with and to a level that will allow us to win games.
“It’s crucial we address the problem ahead of this weekend’s games.
“For big chunks of all our previous games this season we’ve gone through stretches of not being able to get any stops.
“We need to put together two consistent performances this weekend and get our season underway properly.
“For us it’s about sticking to our guns right now. We’re a confident group and we know the areas we need to improve – it just hasn’t translated onto the court yet.
“The Flyers are always well structured and they have a great coach. It’s always a tough game – I think the two teams are quite well matched.
“Plymouth usually plays a bit more freely, but under the right circumstances we can definitely walk away with two victories from this weekend.
“Now we just need to put it all together on the court!”
