Atwood: Scorchers can continue to get better and better

It’s been quite the introduction to British basketball for Surrey Scorchers’ Willie Atwood.

The 24-year-old forward joined the Scorchers in the summer, having spent the past two seasons in Europe after graduating from Arizona State in 2016.

Having begun the year with four consecutive defeats, Surrey appear to have finally found their rhythm – recording victory over Manchester Giants in the last round of the Championship and upsetting the odds this past weekend by winning the 2018 British Basketball All-Stars Championship.

“I am settling in great here in the UK,” began the US import.

“Everything is going in the right direct for the team.

“We just need to use what we did in our last game against the Giants and build on it.

“The All-Stars event was great fun too: getting to see my teammates come together and win it all.

“It was also pretty cool that I got a chance to hit a 5-pointer.

“I think we can just keep getting better and better… we are going to surprise a lot of people!”
