Prior: ‘It’s an exciting time to be around the Wildcats’

Nottingham Wildcats have been busy this offseason, introducing several new changes and structures ahead of the 2018-19 season.

In addition to a new Lead Coach of the Perform Basketball Programme, Great Britain and England player Siobhan Prior will take on Director of Basketball Operations duties.

The Commonwealth Games silver medallist will also continue to suit up for the Wildcats, as the side looks to add to the Cup title they won last season.

“We had success in the Cup last year, so that was a positive,” recalled Prior.

“However, that was last season. We don’t think too much about previous seasons at this point in the year.

“Really, we are just focusing on what we have to do in the season ahead.

“I’m looking forward to the roster we have put together. There’s a mix of young talent, a strong British contingent, experienced players and home-grown kids.

“Kenrick [Liburd] has really focused on the type of people we have brought in, how they will fit into the team but more importantly how they will fit into the club in its entirety.

“It’s an exciting time to be around the Wildcats. The club is looking to build and move forward and that goes far beyond just the WBBL team.

“Everyone is on board with that.

“I’m definitely excited for the season.

“I think that although a lot of talent has left the league there has been an influx of talent to replace it.

“As ever, it should be a competitive league with some great games, classic upsets and I’m sure more records broken… I’m looking forward to it.”
