Manchester Giants made a number of marquee additions during the offseason and the new signings are already making a huge impact.
American import Torry Butler enjoyed a dream debut for the club, leading the Giants to an opening night victory over DBL Sharks Sheffield.
The forward poured in a team-high 19 points to put the league on notice.
“It felt pretty good to be the leading scorer of the game, but points don’t really matter to me,” began Butler.
“The win is what matters the most – it meant a lot to get a tough road win.
“I’m all about giving my all to help the team win! I let my game come to me and if it’s my night, it’s my night.
“If not, I’ll definitely find other ways to help the team.
“The fans should expect me to give 100% each time I step on the court – win or lose. They will know I left it all out there.
“I’ve always been on a team that had something to prove and I’ve always been an under-dog.
“So with that being said, by winning the first game, we made a statement. But we aren’t satisfied… we have a long season ahead and more wins to come.
“We’ll just take it one week at a time.”
