Two-time BBL Coach of the Year Nick Nurse has been confirmed as the new head coach of Toronto Raptors in the NBA.
Nurse claimed the end-of-year award in 2000 and 2004 following successful seasons at Manchester Giants and Brighton Bears having also coached Derby Storm, Birmingham Bullets and London Towers during his time in the BBL, which began in the 1990-91 season.
The Iowa native also had a spell as Great Britain’s Senior Men’s assistant coach and now makes the step up to a head coach role in the NBA after five years as an assistant at Toronto.

- Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri first encountered Nick Nurse in 1995 – Ujiri was playing for Derby Storm against Birmingham Bullets for whom Nurse was a coach.
- Nurse becomes the ninth head coach in Raptors history.
- Nurse was given his first head coaching position at Grand View College at just 23.
- Nurse won G League coach of the year (2010-11) and remains the only coach to lead two teams to an NBA G League Championship – Iowa (2011) and Rio Grande (2013).
