The London-bound New York Knicks selected 18-year old Kevin Knox with the ninth overall pick at last night’s NBA Draft. The young forward will travel with the Knicks to London on 17 January to take on the Washington Wizards at The O2 as part of the NBA London Game 2019.
Knox spoke for the first time as a Knicks player last night in New York after the NBA Draft 2018, commenting on the upcoming London trip, “I think it will be a great experience to go to London, I’ve never been before so it will be great to play against the Washington Wizards there. I’ll have a great time out there.”
The 6ft9in forward also shared his excitement for his new adventure in the NBA, “It’s a great feeling. I’m here, it’s the biggest stage in the NBA, I think I proved myself at the biggest stage of college basketball [with Kentucky], so I think it’s a great experience and I’m going to have fun and enjoy it.”
Talking about the upcoming season, Knox said: “I think it will be great, there are a lot of young guys and they are looking for some more. I’m only 18 but I’m going to work really hard and I think it’s a great opportunity.”
Finally, commenting on his teammates at the Knicks, Knox said: “I haven’t really talked to any of the guys yet, but I’m really looking forward to seeing some of them tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to getting on the court and showing my energy. Enes [Kanter] is a tough guy, a big guy and it’s tough to play at Madison Square Gardens, so I’m really looking forward to just getting out on the court and showing what I can do.”
