On Sunday, Sevenoaks Suns retained their Play-Off title by defeating Leicester Riders 69-44 at The O2 – the club’s fourth title in two years.
For sharpshooting guard Renée Busch “winning the Final was really the icing on the cake of a great season.”
“We faced some challenges but we grew together and progressed as the season went on,” recalled Busch.
“It’s been a long season and we had to battle to finish in a good Play-Off seed position at the end of the regular season.
“You then have to battle again to get through to the Final. It’s not easy, so I think that both us and Leicester earned our places in the Final.
“It really felt great to have what I think was probably our best team performance at the perfect time, on the biggest stage and end the season on a high.
“I think the win was a combination of things.
“We have really strong leadership and experience on our team that’s invaluable, especially in these big games.
“We trusted each other and everyone did their job.
“We had a clear game plan coming in with adjustments made from the last time we faced Leicester.
“I think we all enjoyed the moment of the big game too and shared the same goal one hundred percent.”
