Just hours after his side secured a historic fourth place finish at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, veteran international Kieron Achara took to Twitter to announce his plans to retire from Scotland duty.
The highly decorated forward stated in a pair of tweets:
“I want to thank everyone who has supported our Commonwealth Games journey. You helped keep us motivated and gave us that push through the hard times. We gave our absolute all to medal and came up short, it hurts now but I know we will look back at this experience with pride.
“This will be my last time suiting up for the Scotland team and think the future is definitely bright. Thanks for the memories. Scotland I truly love you.”
In his final outing, Achara collected 6 points, 4 rebounds and added 2 steals to sign off an incredible international career.
