Lewis: Pride out to enjoy change of format

On Sunday, Caledonia Pride travel to the North East of England to take on Team Northumbria in the opening round of the WBBL Trophy.

For Caledonia’s Robyn Lewis, the change of format will provide a welcome break from the intensity of the Championship.

“I think the Trophy offers a nice break from league play, particularly at this point in the season,” said Lewis.

“Saturday’s win was huge for us in terms of our Championship ambitions, but we are all really excited for the Trophy.

“It’s always fun to keep tabs on the other Trophy games too.

“To get the chance to make another run at some silverware is something we’re all keen to do.

Northumbria is a great team, especially with some of their key players making a return from injury.

“We will have to lock in defensively – this cost us the last time we played them!

“If we get stops, we can look to push the ball in transition. This can be a big strength for us,” concluded the playmaker.

Caledonia Pride faces Team Northumbria on Sunday at Sport Central, 4:00PM.
