Ward: Team Northumbria poised to make end of season run

Few rosters have seen more of an upheaval this year than Team Northumbria.

After a fast start to the season, departures and injuries have taken a toll on the franchise from the North East.

But with absence comes opportunity.

Flo Ward has taken her game to a new level in recent weeks, producing a series of standout performances for Northumbria, including a season-high 22 points last time out.

“I’ve been looking to be more aggressive and take more shots than I usually do when we have our full team on the court,” admitted Ward.

“With our team being shorthanded, the rest of us have had to step up and look to take on more of the scoring load.

“Hopefully the core players who are currently out injured will be back on court at some point over the next couple of weeks. As we know we’re entering a really important stretch of the season and it would be a great help to have them back in the rotation.

“I’m confident that we can reintegrate everyone into the line-up before the end of the regular season and we can really gain some momentum.

“We’ll be ready when the Play-Offs come around!

“This weekend is going to be a tough test, against a very strong Sevenoaks Suns team.

“Last time we faced them we narrowly lost out in overtime, but we competed really well.

“It’s crucial we play together as a team and do all the little things to ensure we put ourselves in a position to win.”

Team Northumbria (9-8) take on Sevenoaks Suns (13-1) on Sunday at 4:00PM.
