Ninth in the standings, Bristol’s current Championship position is somewhat misleading. With a record of 6-5 the Flyers head into the weekend just two wins behind third place Glasgow Rocks and with plenty of games in hand over the majority of sides above them.
For long-serving guard Roy Owen, top four is where the franchise wants to be.
“At the start of the season our goal was to finish in the top four and this is something we’re still very much striving to achieve.
“We must keep getting better every day and show that progress in every game.”
Bristol host high flying Eagles on Saturday before travelling to Leeds on Sunday.
“Newcastle is always an extremely tough matchup for anyone,” declared Owen.
“They will be coming here ready to keep the pressure on Leicester at the top of the table, so we expect to play them at their best.
“Then it’s a long journey up to Leeds on Sunday.
“Force is a team whose results probably aren’t a true indication of the talent they have on their roster.
“Although we got the win against them last time out they had a really good second half against us. We cannot underestimate them.
“Both games will be a test, but these are the challenges we look forward to if want to continue to push for a top four spot.
“After having three weeks off without playing an official game we are fresh and looking to use this to our advantage. We’ve had extremely competitive practices throughout our break and we are all ready to hit the floor and start 2018 off in the right way.”
