The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced the launch of the #MyNBAstory contest, a competition for fans to tell their stories of what inspires them about the NBA. Fans using the #MyNBAstory and #Contest hashtags can express their passion for the game through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The top three UK fan stories will be made into NBA-produced original short films shown on the NBA’s UK digital and social channels. Fans will then vote for the most inspiring story, with the fan submitting the winning story receiving a trip to NBA All-Star 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The #MyNBAstory contest is part of the NBA’s “This Is Why We Play” global marketing platform. In addition to the competition, the NBA today unveiled “Hero Stories,” a series of short films available on Givemesport.com/my-nba-story featuring NBA players, including former Team GB player and Los Angeles Lakers forward Luol Deng talking about his path to the NBA.

“We are excited to announce the #MyNBAstory contest, which showcases the passion of our fans and their personal connection to the league,” said NBA EMEA Marketing Senior Director Brianne Ehrenkranz. “Anyone who has been inspired by the NBA can share their story with friends, family, fans and followers, celebrating their shared love for the game of basketball.”

Fans in the UK can participate in the #MyNBAstory contest at Givemesport.com/my-nba-story. The competition will run from Nov. 2-24, while voting for the top entry will run from late Dec. to early Jan. 2017.

The #MyNBAstory contest is also hosted in Germany and Spain. Fans who vote across the three participating countries will also be entered for a chance to win, with one overall winner awarded a trip to NBA All-Star 2017. Terms and conditions apply.

Fans can find more NBA information at NBA.com/UK, the league’s official online destination in the UK, and on Facebook (NBA UK) and Twitter (@NBAUK).
