Great Britain’s senior men produced one of their most convincing team performances in recent years, beating Macedonia in Kavadarci’s Arena Jasmin 89-62.
Four players reached double figures, with Dan Clark producing 21 points, Andrew Lawrence 14, Ben Gordon 12 and Gabe Olaseni contributing 13 points as well as 8 rebounds in another encouraging display for the 2016 newcomer. Overall, Britain shot 49% while their opponents were restricted to 32%.
Meanwhile, Hungary made sure of top spot in Group G and seal their place in next summer’s showpiece, thanks to a narrow 68-65 win over Luxembourg, who GB travel to face in their final game.
GB will definitely finish in second place, but must wait to see if they are one of the four best runners-up from the seven groups.
But whatever happens elsewhere, victory against Luxembourg will be a fitting way to end an encouraging campaign for Coach Joe Prunty’s men, which has shown new players emerge alongside established international campaigners and offer a glimpse of what the future might hold.
