England U18 Men finish 9th at European Championships

England U18 Men finished the European Championships Division B in 9th position.

After overcoming a difficult start that saw England drop their first three group games to Ukraine (65-74), Slovak Republic (48-59) and Georgia (70-76), the team gained some momentum by closing out the group phase with victories over Scotland (95-51) and Albania (83-42).

Consecutive victories over Iceland (70-64) and Belarus (81-64) set up a final showdown versus Georgia for 9th place. Avenging their earlier loss, England ran out 85-81 winners on the back of a 33-19 3rd quarter to take 9th spot.

Carl Wheatle led the team in points (10.1), rebounds (11.4), Assists (3.1) and steals (2.4) per game. Nelson Boachie-Yiadom (9.9 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 1.8 SPG, 1.8 BPG) and Luke Mitchell (9 PPG, 3.4 APG, 1.8 SPG) also had standout tournaments.
