GB Women take home silver at Dutch Battle ahead of Rio Paralympics

Great Britain’s Women continued their preparation for the Rio Paralympics with a trip to Almere, Netherlands to take part in the 2016 Dutch Battle. Pitted against Germany, Canada and Netherlands, the world-class line-up was sure to prove a tough test for GB.

It was a back and forth group campaign, GB finishing with a record of 1-2: falling to the hosts and Germany but picking up an impressive win over Canada. The semi-final saw GB put in a stunning performance to get revenge on Germany and earn a place in the final – the women overturning a 19 point deficit to earn a 60-59 victory.

It was the home team who would take home gold, despite a valiant effort from GB that saw them score 16 more points against Netherlands than in their previous clash during the group stage.
